Definition
The event in a secondary-progressed chart where a progressed planet's apparent motion comes to a halt before reversing direction — either from direct to retrograde (the progressed first station) or from retrograde to direct (the progressed second station). Because secondary progressions compress a day of post-natal motion into a year of life, a single station can occupy a decade or more of progressed time, with the planet's longitude barely advancing across the surrounding years.

The underlying concept is the station — Greek stērigmos (στηριγμός) — the moment when a planet's heliocentric loop produces the geocentric appearance of standing still before reversing direction. Obert documents the doctrine: a planet's apparent standing-still just before retrograde (first station) or before direct (second station). Traditional doctrine treats stationary planets as 'emphatic' — their significations weigh heavily because the planet is pausing rather than moving on. Practitioners compute secondary progressions for the natal chart and watch for the year at which an inner planet (Mercury, Venus, Mars) approaches its station. The progressed station marks a multi-year emphasis on the planet's significations — a Mercury station for thinking and communication, a Venus station for relating and valuing, a Mars station for willing and acting. Forrest and modern progression-school practitioners read the years on either side of the station as a sustained turning-point in the planet's domain, with the actual station-year carrying the maximum weight.
